Though interestingly, Lake Michigan is the only one of the Great Lakes that sits entirely within the US. As the name suggests, Lake Superior – the largest of the Great Lakes – is the second-largest freshwater lake in the world. This freshwater system is often refer to as the Five Great Lakes of North America, as it is made up of five lakes: Lake Superior, Lake Michigan, Lake Huron, Lake Erie, and Lake Ontario.
